Having owned 2 old Lotus Europa's, I can tell you one flaw in your theory. Chapman also wanted to build his cars for one purpose - to win races. And to do that, the car should FALL APART at the finish line just as it crosses it, thus completing its purpose. Well, my 2 Europa's were exactly that too! :) Drive them one day, fix them the next six :)
But as for the new M3, I have also heard it is no longer the Boy Racer that the E30 was, and the E36 moved slightly away from. If that is the case, give me an E30 M3 ANYDAY!!!!! And to support that, in my region of the BMWCCA, there seems to be more E30 M3's in it than any other BMW. And MOST of those are now Club Racer cars too! And are they SHARP! Drooooooool!!!!!
