: it is a BMW service part/kit & the gov't (NHTSA) paperwork is not very complicated - you download the form off the web & sign it & get a dealer to do the work.

: the person who had it done had to drive a couple hundred miles to find a dealer who would install the parts. IIRC they could not get the parts from BMW NA until the dealer agreed to do the work so as to not have the customer make the mod themselves.

: the dealer can just refuse to install the switch, even if they are (perhaps) legally covered by the waiver.

: do not recall if the switch also cut off the side bag, but it would make sense.
