Sorry to hear about your breakin. Within two weeks of purchase I had a Clifford Intelliguard 8000 installed complete with two stage remotely adjustable proximity sensor. It does everything including self-arming, window rollup, light on, auto-locking, anti-car jacking, etc.. $550 installed complete with a serial port to program it with my notebook PC.

If you had this installed the alarm would have gone off after 10 seconds of anyone standing within 2 inches of your car window.

Additionally you can add a pager option and the car will page you "that someone is trying to breakin". I don't expect other people to listen for my car alarm. You can chooose from 60 different sounds.

Alpine has a similiar system but installed don't recommend it since Alpine's support isn't good.
