last week, my buddy has a 00 coupe- fairly basic car (18' twists, hi fi stereo, sports seats, 3 spoke wheel)- interior is very boring (well, with enough $, your 996 interior could look like a Rolls), anyhow- a parking attendant backed into it in a garage in Manhattan (noticed it the next day)- he likes the autobody shop near me so he had someone follow him out to LI and I dropped the car off a few days later-No doubt, the car is fun- great power, brakes, handling. The interior is "cheap"- definitely worse than an Mcoupe (the buttons (shiny ovals), the wiper stalks, stereo)- just felt out of place.
Its certainly a babe magnet, I think the 996 isn't too swift looking IMO (Turbo is a different story).
Overall, nice car- not worth $70k- I couldn't even imagine adding tons of options, $90k for a 996 (thats even more ridiculous). But the car is apparantly in big demand right now- must push the right buttons for a descent amount of folks, each is own.
