actually, by all accounts the 'new' elan was a pretty decent car... had they priced it at $29K (like the last ones sold after sitting on dealer lots for over a year) instead of $40K, it would have done ok. it could have been a worthy Z3/boxster competitor.

as for affordability, the Europa was priced about the same as a Corvette or a 911 in its day... the 190 is right between the two today, or about the same as a mid-optioned boxster. and streetable is as streetable does ;) - although honestly if i had to have only one car to drive daily, i'd take the M Coupe over the Elise in a second! i consider my ford Focus to be a mandatory Elise option. the Elise is a very demanding mistress (but oh-so-good at what she does :)
