: I've had my 2000 Z3 Coupe (topaz blue / black) since February, and I recently took it to the dealer to fix some minor stuff. Despite my service advisor's claims to the contrary, nothing actually changed. My problems are:
: - passenger door has an intermittent buzz (if somebody sitting there presses on the door, the buzz stops)
: - rear hatch occasionally clicks, as if it weren't completely tight
: So, I'm thinking I need to go back and try again. Has anybody else experienced problems with minor stuff like this? Also, I've had one other really odd problem. My gear shift knob keeps coming off. There really isn't a whole lot holding BMW shift knobs on in the first place, but if you're trying to shift from first to second in a big hurry, you're going to be pulling hard enough to end up with a shift knob in your hand. This first happened to me about a week ago and it's happened several times since then. I've pushed the knob back on again, but to no avail. Could the knob be defective?

My rear hatch also made noise when new and when going over bumps. If nothing is loose inside th hatch, the fix is to take the play out of the latch. First, loosen the torx screws, move the plate in as far as it will go, and retighten (to gain access to the screws, pop the plastic covers above them off). DO NOT OVER-LOOSEN THE SCREWS OR THE NUTPLATES WILL FALL OUT! If the hatch is still not tight enough, screw the rubber bumpers that the hatch closes against out about a quarter turn at a time until the rattle stops.
