: Interesting to note the Hartge V8 Coupe.. 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.... sort of a long way, and a ton of cash, to go for some mediocre performance improvement. Same thing happened a couple years back with AC Schnitzer and a Z3, with a V8, not a great deal of performance improvement. You can get the heat at a fraction of the cost by going the turbo/supercharger route on the stock M motor. Actually, I'm willing to guess that a well tuned M coupe, with a few pounds removed, say 200, would pull off a 4.8 sec pass without having a big budget impact. Taking the M3 LTW approach... remove sound deadening and other non-essential stuff, and the Coupe could easily be made to kick, without spending billions.
: Of course, then you'd not have that V8 rumble.... Personally I dig the 6.
: Speaking of 6... I think it's interesting BMW keeps telling us all that the 6 speed won't fit, yet the Hartge car not only crams in the V8, it does so with the 6 speed to boot. BMW has also built a Coupe with a V12, so we know that can be done.... Now THAT I'd pay some serious coin for, a V12, 6 speed, M coupe.... For nothing more that the freaky look you'd get popping the hood at the local car club meeting!
