: : I recently got flamed for a post which demonstrated how every model of BMW had a cheaper and quicker competitor.

GEE, I WONDER WHY????? For your next feat of daring, you'll be going into a Fireman's convention holding a can of gasoline, and ask for a match?

:
: A few readers posted statistics siting otherwise, but these were for 328i, 528i, 540i, and M5 models that are manually shifted, and therefore cannot be compared to their classmates (which are automatics).

: What? There are no manual transmission competitors to the 3-series? First of all, you're being US-centric, but even then I suppose VW, Audi, and Lincoln are disqualified somehow?

I don't think he is being US-centric. I think he is talking LEXUS and INFINITY only! From the way he sounds, ANY USA car would be junk. He is trying to talk himself into good reasons to buy
Japanese and dump his German cars.

By the way Zandr - nice collection of cars! Not as long as mine, but damn nice! And Brit too! My Dad recently got an MG Midget! After years of being pissed at me for having my Triumphs (and we both always repairing them together), it came as a shock, as it was the time I had gotten into 4dr automatics (YECH!!!!!!) during the period I quit racing.
