Considerring the number of replys already posted I'll keep this brief. Your assumptions are amazing. I have a 2000 M coupe which sits in my garage most of the week. Living in Orgeon I have beautiful mountain roads very close to my back door and I do blast along those extremely frequently, typically once a week. In this situation there is simply no comparison between an M and its competitors. I have several friends with other cheaper cars and in a straight line there may not be much of an advantage for the BMW's but out on a country road you can't touch the car. My point is don't assume that a given percent of the driving is stoplight to stoplight ect. That is grossly in error. The basis for owning a bimmer is not about transportation, it is truly about the pleasure of driving and at this they are remakably successful, despite their cost and whatever percentage acceleration numbers you may have dug up.
