7k rpm HOW??? (archive)

I just thought of something today that seemed strange. My '99 M Coupe's rev limiter kicks in at 7k. I know this is not normal. Should do its thing at 6500 right?

Only thing I can think of is the guy who owned it before me had it chipped (bought from dealer don't know who he was).

The question is who's reprogram is it?

Any leads would be appreciated.
