I don't want to offend anyone, especially the guys at ECIS, they are a VERY helpful and professional company, I have nothing bu the utmost respect for their method of doing business.
I got the ECIS intake, and attempted to put it on the car. The only way I can describe it's fit is hokey. I have seen the JonC CA intake and I know what "clean", "stock looking", and "expensive" looks like. the ECIS just didn't really fit. I could have finagled it to fit, but there was no way to get everythign lined up correctly. If the heat shield taught and free of air gaps, then eother the air filter was sticking up over the top of the shield 2 inches, or the HFM was resting against the shock tower. If I moved the HFM away from the shock tower and got the filter in a good place the heat shield was buckling and gapping all over the place. To even get the filter setup correctly you need to place it at a completely bizarre angle to the connector tube. Nothing seemed to fit cleanly. I only partially care about looks, the standard looking hose clamps were not all that attractive, and the orange silicon rubber tube was not that impressive either. What I care for more is quality of parts and manufacture. The thing could be pink and blue, but if it is well made, well fit, and looks clean installed I would buy it.
I was very disappointed, because after all the hype everyone gives it, and after chatting with the guy at ECIS I was expecting a slam dunk.
I am curious as to what everyone elses opinions are. I would go and buy the JonC CAI, but I have a Dinan chip, and dont feel like overwriting it with JonC's chip upgrade (unless of course I could figure out some way to "sell" my chip reprogramming).
