Stability control systems were designed for *drivers*. That is why companies like Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes have pioneered these systems. Novices and experts alike appreciate advanced electronics such as these. Granted, the expert driver will turn off DSC in most situations, but I'm sure many expert drivers would appreciate DSC in the rain and snow.

Having experienced DSC first hand at the UDE, I can honestly say that *every* driver from the novice to Schumaecher would benifet from DSC. Considering that DSC can do hundreds, of not thousands of calculations a second as well as individually apply the brakes, I'd say that it is certainly a worthwile addition to the ///M Coupe.

If DSC and other stability control systems were meant for novices, then why did McLaren have a stability control program on their F1 cars (which was later banned)? Even F1 drivers--who certainly qualify as expert drivers--realize the safety of stability control systems.

I certianly admit that I'm a novice driver. But I've only been driving for 3 years. The fact is, even if you're the best driver in the world, who says the guy in the oncoming lane is? And certainly, not everyone who buys a BMW has the skills to *always* be in control of the car. Even if someone is a good driver, there is the distinct possibility that the car can lose control in incliment conditions. Again, even the expert F1 drivers crash and lose control... if they didn't there'd be no need for medics at the courses.

I'm not saying that DSC is a fail-free safety-net. I know that first hand. DSC still demands an attenttive driver. Heck, I spun a 328i out at the UDE while testing the DSC on a slick tarp.
