When I teach at SIR on rain days I stress to my students that this is an opportunity to work on your basic skills at a REDUCED speed. You must be smooth in your inputs, consistent in your execution and balanced in all aspects of your driving to be safe in the rain. Working on these skills will make you faster in the dry. I guarantee it!
Yes it sucks to drive in the rain (I drive a Z3 with the top down except in the rain) but it will make you better (faster) if you just back off a couple notches on the speed and work on the other components of going fast.
Unless it is a total down pour stay out there and practice, practice, practice!
