I agree with your comments about ASC but must disagree with you on ABS.
I agree when you say that locking up all 4 wheels helps regain the constant slide as opposed to just the rear end going away from you. This is fine if you have the presence of mind to come back off the brakes and regain grip to drive out of the bend, and not just slide sideways into the Armco, which is what a high number of people would do as is is alien to them to do anything other than panic brake.
What ABS does is balance the braking to all 4 wheels not just reduce the retardation of the vehicle. This allows you to brake effectivly while still having a reasonable level of vehicle control without having to come back off the brakes. ABS is the better option if space is limited. I know that even with ABS people don't steer they just panic?
