Since almost all damage is on the rim edge, from curbs, and washracks, or tire mounting problems:
A custom wheel finisher can do a lot of different things. Why not have them do all four wheels, but not to match color so much as have them first lathe turn the ouside rim face to about 1/4" before the point where the spokes intersect the rim itself. They'd only have to take off but .0005". Then polish that band area. Next refinish the wheel ceneters in a more normal silver, or any other color you might want (for example, black on a red car could be hot!, or white for a white car, red or yellow on a black car, tie in the interior trim color to the wheel centers or???....use your imagination). The result would be a polished outer ring with a colored spoke section, which has always been a good look (and classic which matches the cars aesthetic). The final finish would be a clear coat over the whole wheel to protect the polished section and provide a uniform color overall.
A asked a wheel shop about this option, he liked the idea and stated he could do this for around $135 a wheel. That's just $540 (less than the cost of 2 replacement wheels) for a completely custom look!
The advantage is, from that point any damage to the outer rims can them be repaired by re-polishing and potential color matches can be better controlled, especially if you pick a dark center color.
Anyway, just trying to offer alternative ideas.
