I went to the Marina, California autocross today. At the autocross was Tummyrub's little red Coupe. When they called the cars to get on grid the BIGGEST BADDEST COUPE I ever heard pulled into the grid line. It was Tummyrub himself.
To understand what I'm talking about you have to think of the sound of big bad V8 top fuel dragster. You know the sound, the rat-a-tat of the cam and the pop popping of the wide-open exhaust? You know the kind of motor sound that means gobs of horsepower and torque?
To say the least, Tummyrub's Z3Coupe was a head turner. The SCCA folks all came over to check it out. They had never heard such a big sound from a little BMW! At first it was a curious glance that quickly turned into a stare. With the hood open they begin to inspect the little mouse motor that sounded like a giant.
It took them maybe ten to fifteen seconds before a strange look fell over their faces. This BIG BAD sound was coming from where? It seems Tummyrub had his stereo turned way up and he was playing back the sound track of a top fuel dragster! Once they figured out they were fooled by the little BMW that roared like a lion, everyone had a good laugh. I think Tummyrub even rubbed his tummy a bit after putting one over on the SCCA boys today!
