Well, I thought that most brake fluids are mineral based. Two old bottles of cheap brake fluid in my garage are made of "polyglycol Ethers". Don't know what this is, but sounds like it could be either.

You shouldn't have a problem. Motul is polyglycol as well, but it's a synthetic glycol. (As opposed to what? I'm not sure.) In any event, the fluids that they're worried about are the DOT 5 (not 5.1) silicone fluids, and the exotic stuff like Castrol SRF.

The BMW factory fill is garden variety DOT 4, and should flush right out. I've done this on several cars, though not on the coupe yet.

As to the ABS issue, the usual recommendation is to flush the fluid, go out and nail the ABS a few times and then flush the fluid again. I think everyone in the world is waiting for Jim C to build a box that plugs into the diagnostic connector and cycles the ABS, but I'm guessing that's non-trivial, or he'd have done it already.

BTW, there's no such thing as a free lunch. In addition to the price, the other thing you pay for that ultra-high boiling point is short life. Motul absorbs water faster than conventional fluids, and way faster than something like LMA. Consider the useful life of Motul to be 6 months.
