Fuel gauge freaks out upon refueling (archive)

Each time I fill up at the pump, for about the first 30 miles or so the fuel gauge jumps back and forth from full to empty intermittently. I have checked the gas cap on many occasions to make sure it is seated properly, and it is. Anyone run in to this before?
