: Well folks, I have to bow down (and eat some c#$% that will be sent my way) and turn over the crown. Hell, Shihab did so DAMN GOOD, it was ONLY .04 off of Tom Smith's times in his well known GS KILLER Type R!!!!!! And where Shihab was only on Sumitomos, Tom was on R tires!!!!! He not only has his car dialed in (and HIS exhaust is every bit as good as he said about mine!!!!!), but boy does he have POTENTIAL! Shihab, IF you could ever get a hold of R tires, I think you DO have a chance of a class win in ASP at the SCCA events!
: As for Paul, hehehehe, he tried to run with minimal weight, . . . . . so he got fuel starvation during his timed runs! But as Shihab said, HIS INTAKE SOUNDS AWESOME!!! So if Shihab ever makes that mix, I WANT A COPY!!!!!
: And Edwin did DAMN GOOD as well as Mike S!
: As Mike S didn't tell me his times, I can only say this:
: Shihab gopt a 84.48
: I got a 85.4X
: Edwin got a VERY respectable 87.XX IN HIS FIRST EVER RACE!!!!!
: So we COUPE MEN showed those E30 and E36 M3 folk we ARE a force to CONTEND WITH!
: But Karl, I sure hope Tracquest helped you out, cuz you gotta watch out for Mr //M Coupe!!!!!
: The ONLY excuse I have is that I had only 70 miles on the brand new GeForce KD's, so the virgin rubber was still on the tires, and thus not grippy yet. But I did drive to the car's limits and Shihab beat me fair and square in an AWESOME event!
WOW! What a great day it was. Mike Z, Shihab (Mr MCOUPE), Mike S. and Paul Kramer - I want to thank all of you for all of your encouragements yesterday, your inputs really made for a great day. I was really happy to post such a great time with a stock MCOUPE (W/ H&R sport springs- stoke tires and shocks). I was within .25 of a sec of Paul Kramers time. Paul was running on fumes and a prayer so I am sure he could have poster even better times. I was able to better Mike S. by 3 sec. Mike was having a problem with air pressure and there was a section of the coarse that went from asphalt to concrete and back to asphalt (very slick by mid day), you had to drift (four wheels) the car for through this section.
Shihab, my hat goes off to you GREAT JOB! As I mentioned I've always been on message baord but I have been a fly on the wall. I've always read everyone argue about who's car is faster and which modifications are better etc.. and at times some people really offend each other for unnecessary reasons.
I am 100% in aggreement and support with Mike Z when he tells everyone, get out to an Auto X, learn your car- post the absute best times possible then make improvements to your car. In one of my practice sessions I did a complete 360 @ 60 MPH and managed not to knock over any cones -An Auto X is the place to learn your car control skills (not the street)these skills may one day save you and someone you love life.
6 Z3 coupes were in attendance, it would be great to see more out there at the next event wich will be held on Aug 13th.
Hope to see you there.
Your freind in speed - Edwin Barron
