We took first in our class (Beginner)! We turned -6.37 minutes out, or -637 points, which was not bad for anyone. We did get all foogy-booed up at the exit of the thing and wandered around for a while before we realized that we were done already. Had a little road-side argument, then hunted our way back to the last checkpoint.
Santa Barnara Car Club people are very nice, do an excellent job of running the race. I recommend this to everyone! Competition was intense in the end, as the course got more complex and you began to gain equity in the form of good stages!
We will definitely be doing more of this! Next month is a long one (2-day event, 12 road hours) to Laughlin Nevada. we gotta do it. No freeways, just back roads.
Finally something me and the Mrs. can do in the car together, that works her strengths (she follows instructions like nobody else I know!) and mine (I'm not bad at Seat-of-the-pants speed averaging, etc.).
The Coupe's ability to accelerate is an asset, as you can really jump up to speed quickly, and take corners at speed keeping your speed averages very consitent.
What fun!
Tommorow we watch the BMW and Porsche people run at Buttonwillow.
