I dig the M coupe like nothing I have ever owned. It's fast and fun, and oh yes, it's absolutely riddled with glitches! (Gas gage, little trim buzziness here and their, squeeky clutch peddle, spitting wiper, dribbling front washer, stumbling idle on start up, eats front tires on the track, twitchy handling if you aren't smooth, missing chrome parts, no arm rest, misaligned body seams, etc....). I love it because of and regardless of all these foibles.
BUT...BMW financial services is beginning to really piss me off. I'm going to bag them in all future transactions. No more lease programs, and I'll look elesewhere for financing.
Here's why:
We turned in a Z3 roadster (lease) in December to Crevier BMW, when we got into the coupe. In March (4 months later) we get an invoice from BMW that states we owe 4 months late payments on the Z3 lease, plus late charges! When we called they stated it was just a computer glitch and to ignore it. Then in June, it's back again, now demanding 6 months late payments and late fees. We also note at this point (part of another loan app), that they had reported an outstanding balance due on our credit reports! We called and got another BS excuse. So, we called Crevier, who finally discovered that BMW had lost their pay-off check, had attempted to process a photo-copy they had on file, which the bank rejected (duh). That rejection kicked the invoice to us (June).
These jerks never claled us and asked us what was going on. They never called Crevier either! Crevier is the one who noted in March that BMW had not cashed their pay-off check (when BMW attempted to pass off the copy, as they had lost the original). The rejection took them 60 days to process, resulting in our second invoice.
We have NEVER missed a credit payment, and I mean NEVER! We pay our debts in full.
1. They had a copy of the check on file from Crevier
2. We had NEVER missed or been late on a payment to date
3. They were informed we had turned the car in to Crevier and were aware we no longer had possession. As the car had been re-sold and re-financed through BMW FS!
Hell, we've even borrowed money to pay off a mortgage shortfall when the market caved in during a relocation. But does BMW FS bother to talk to us? NO! Does it give us the benefit of the doubt, before reporting outstanding issues on our credit summary? NO! They send us nasty little notes saying that we are, by contract still liable for the car, even after it has passed from out posession, and been resold!
Well, if this wasn't enough to make me really angry. In an effort to see how much damage they had done to our credit report, we got a copy. We discovered they had not processed another pay-off! We paid off my wifes loan on her 318ti over 5 months ago, yet it is still is shown as an outstanding balance on our credit report!
I think this is about the sloppiest handling of paper I have ever experienced from a financial institution. Every other loan on every other car, house, appliance, whatever, on the credit report was accurately shown with "0" balances, except those from BMW FS!
I am not going to do any further business with BMW Financial Services. If anyone else has delt with them, and have done any trades or pay-offs, you might coinsider getting a copy of your current credit reports and make sure they have reported those transactions accurately.
What a mess. This is going to take months to sort out! It takes 60 days to make any changes on a credit report. we're going to have to hassle with them to get the change notices sent in, plus follow up to make sure it is done... as I can't believe anything they tell me on the phone or in writing.
Between the glitches and quality issues of the car and this financial crap, I'm not sure my next car choice will be with BMW at all. I've owned a LOT of cars, and have never had anything like this happen before (and that includes Ford and GM financing!). I'm beginning to feel that BMW's impositions are too distracting from the positives the cars bring to me.
In case you haven't guessed by now, I AM REALLY PISSED OFF about this! My wife is absolutely against doing business with them agian, best cars in the world or not. She went from looking at a new Z3 for herself to asking about Audis and Mazda Miatas (eek!), so I doubt she'll be buying BMW to replace her ti.
Our credit is worth more to us than anything. I'll accept driving the second best cars on the planet, if that's what it takes to protect it!
I guess this is a case of the fly in the ointment.... a big disgusting fat sucker with a bad case of herpies, if you ask me.
