Realizing that all of this is at the direct fault of BMWFS, they should, on their own account, correct their faults without you even requesting it.

However, I too dislike BMW Financial Services (for other reasons). My M roadster is financed through my credit union.

BUT, you shouldn't have to fret so much. Getting those items fixed from your credit reports is easy as butter. I've had plenty of flawed trade lines on mine which I got removed in less than 2 weeks.

By law, according to the Fair Credit Act or some sort, when you dispute an item with a credit bureau they have to respond to it within 30 days--usually it is much quicker.

Write out a letter (do not be aggressive--these companies are only putting the information they receive and believe to be correct on) stating exactly what happened.

I assume that you have copies of the payoff check and its original date and the signed papers for your new car, and any other paperwork relating to the transfer of your lease. Make a copy of all of them. Get your letter notarized. Send a copy to Equifax and any other credit bureaus BMW reported to. It's very easy to do and they will rectify the situation either by marking it as current, paid, zero balance, or deleting the trade line all together (you can probably specify in your letter what you want to happen).

Good luck with it.
