He was an SCCA National Solo II champ in AS (914-2.0) for a few years. Sometimes all he had to do was show up and the protests would begin. Well, on day he confided in me:

Though ballancing and blueprinting were not allowed, he worked in a Porsche Dealer's parts department. And what he'd do, for example, was order a shitload of 914-2.0 pistons, measure and weigh them, pick the best 4, and install those in his car! Well, I GUESS as there was no real maching of the parts, and these were "off the shelf" parts, then he was sort of legal??? :)
