Hi. Alpina22, a regular poster on the E39 board, went to a BMWNA function in NYC last night and learned the following. Enjoy.

"Parked outside is that v.light blue coloured M5 with the two-tone interior, a 3.0i X5, 330Cic and 740i sport.
Inside a Z8!!!!!!!!
Also a 330Cic with yellow leather interior w/black carpet. Very nice combination IMO. The doors in the Z8 feel very light and all the controls have a very mechanical feel to them.

ALL the cars were unlocked for anyone to sit in and drool. Lots of pretty decent food and a raffel of used engine parts from the PTG e46 M3 (pistons, rods, etc).

BMW are careful not to give away anything juicy, so Peter, I was unable to find out if the MY2001 540i will get the aero package. What will be different is how the e39 will stand out at night with the new turn signal/parking lights (thats what they said). In fact the only picture they showed of the e39 was the exact same one JIMMY has. The young German guy in charge of product planning for the e39 is also responsible for the Z-cars and 7's. Lucky him. He also mentioned bimmer.org so they are watching.

A video was shown of the M3. No plans for a LTW version though. Either way I think I'm going to order mine in the next few weeks.

Other M news.........the M-Roadster/Coupe will very likely get the new engine b/c the 3.0, having 225hp, is only short by 15hp in current form. BTW, they claim 5.9sec 0-60 for a 3.0i Z3!

That's all I can remember. It ended at 10pm and before anyone asks, no I didn't take pictures. However, Ben and Rob from UUC were there so I'm sure they'll post something on their site.
