Well, here are the results of the dyno today on my M Coupe.

1st, I need to thank Mark at Advanced Motorsport Solutions down in Costa Mesa for dyno'ing my car. Really helpful and nice person (VERY knowledgable as well).

2nd, I need to thank Mike Z., without whom I would've never been able to dyno the car with 18 supertrapp discs on (I run 12 on each muffler as my daily driver, and forgot the rest at home :( ).

Ok, on with the setup and results:

SETUP: 2000 M Coupe, with JimC chip and air intake, and dual Supertrapp exhaust.
I ran 7 tests: 2 with 12 discs on, 3 with NO discs on, and 2 with 18 discs on.
Now remember, those numbers are at the rear wheels, so multiply by 15-18% (Mark told me 18% IS reasonable) to get the flywheel numbers. Those new numbers are posted in ().

Also, remember that stock M Coupe power is 240HP @ 6000RPM and 236TQ @ 3800RPM (as seen at www.edmunds.com).

----- RESULTS -----

- 12 discs on each muffler:
1st test: HP: 206.5 @ 6000 RPM (243.7)
TQ: 209.3 @ 3750 RPM (247)

2nd test: HP: 208.6 @ 6000 RPM (246.1)
TQ: 213.9 @ 3750 RPM (252.4)

- NO discs (NO CAP ON!!!):
1st test: HP: 213.4 @ 6000 RPM (251.8)
TQ: 224.3 @ 3500 RPM (264.7)

2nd test: HP: 211.3 @ 6000 RPM (249.3)
TQ: 224.1 @ 3750 RPM (264.4)

3rd test: HP: 211.6 @ 6000 RPM (249.7)
TQ: 221.0 @ 3750 RPM (260.8)

- 18 discs on each muffler:
1st test: HP: 212.3 @ 6000 RPM (250.5)
TQ: 221.7 @ 3750 RPM (261.6)

2nd test: HP: 211.9 @ 6000 RPM (250)
TQ: 222.1 @ 3750 RPM (262)

----- END RESULTS -----

Conclusion:
1. Running wide open or with 18 discs on seem to produce the same power. Obviously, 12 discs gives out less power (little less HP but noticeably less TQ!).

2. The JimC chip that supposedly gives about 15 more HP, obviously does NOT. But there is STILL a good increase in power, both HP and TQ.

3. My fear of having LOST power with these mods have been eliminated. Most importantly, my car has lost about 90lbs worth of muffler weight in the back!!

4. Even if I used 15% (instead of 18%) to give out the flywheel numbers, I would've gained quite a bit of HP and TQ with no and 18 discs (over stock), but would've stayed the same in terms of HP with 12 discs v/s stock, and would've gained TQ with 12 discs v/s stock.

5. If you look at the graphs, it clearly shows a nice ALMOST flat Torque curve, which is really cool. I will TRY to scan these graphs and post them on my website (NO guarantees though).

I hope these results have been useful to you guys

Karl
