Karl,

"18% of 206.5 is:
(206.5 * 18) / 100 = 37.17"

You are figuring an 18% GAIN on your rear wheel HP to try to calculate your flywheel HP. This isn't correct... the 18% is a LOSS from the flywheel numbers. 18% loss of flywheel HP is a larger number then 18% of rear wheel HP. As such to convert rear wheel to flywheel you multiply by 1.21 which corrects for a 18% (actually 17.6ish%) flywheel loss.

For example your engine is 240hp flywheel. A 17.6% loss (rear wheel) is 42.240 hp. So your rear wheel HP would be 240-42.240= 197.760 hp.

Now if you try to recalculate the flywheel HP by multiplying by 1.176 197.760 * 1.176= 232.565 hp. You just lost about 8hp.

But if you use 1.21 you don't. 197.760 * 1.21 = 239.28.

Got it?

Shawn
