Well I did the exact opposite thing. I connected aftermarket amps and speakers to the stock head and had to deal with the same problem except in the other direction. I'm not 100% sure but I think you can use line leveler(s) like I did to make everything work.

ONE BIG BIG caution for you though. There are many types of these animals out there. Some for only $10. Those things are complete POS's. Spend the money. Good ones will run you between $25 -$50.

Do also think about upgrading the rest of your system now too. If you decide to gut everything now you will save the $50- $100 now and will be able to get nice sound.

I have some info on doing the non- head unit stuff on my new site (I know it's ugly)
