It was the Grand Bahama Vintage Grand Prix, 1986. Stirling (who often ran with us, as Brian Redman still does) was unhappy with the progress of the front-running proles (i.e. the rest of us). Finding no room to pass on the blacktop, and being in a great hurry for no particular reason other than that he was Stirling Moss, he pulled onto the grass and passed three of us (I was not among them) running side-by-side-by-side. And he waved as he did it! Yes, he was black-flagged. But he was pleasant and cool about it, as he's always been when hanging out with us amateurs.
YUP - IT'S THE DRIVER!

Well, last yeat at the Monterey Historics he tried the same move in an Aston Martin (the same car he drove years ago). Sadly, he T-Boned another car (Old Yellar) and got bounced around. It didn't work that time, and the Aston got the front banged up a bit.

What a shame too, cause it was both that race (to watch Stirling), and later to watch Hobbs in the fire-breating 320i Turbo that I wanted to see the most, and Hobb's had to retire the 320i as well.
