My experiences with the Ecsta 712's is based on two things. First, general street driving. Now, I am an aggressive driver, and value good handling. But still, this is a poor test of how a tire will autocross.
More importantly, there is a U turn that I can take at high speed as I leave my development. I frequently turn off the ASC and do it as fast as I can. This wasn't very fast with the Dunlops, pretty fast in the G-Forces, and essentially as fast in the Ecstas.
Hard to believe - I know. Plus, I make no guarantee about autocrossing, never having done it with these tires. But, for ALL street driving, 99.5% of people will see no difference (except better wet driving with the Ecstas).
My personal philosphy on this is now the same as Mark Sipe's. Run cheap stuff on the street, where it matters almost not at all. And run the best (Hoosiers) on the track.
You mean as good as the GF KD's or the KDW's??? And so far this is just on the street - have you pushed them as in on an exit ramp or anything? Because up until you said anything, I haven't seen or heard of a review on thses tires yet.
