It was actually just taking another view of the auto-culture gig. It was intended to include those, like myself, who enjoy the machine as much, if not more, than driving (ultill the M Coupe, driving was always a chore for me, now I can't get enough of it!). I've been into wrenching way longer than driving. I've helped several teams win by being in the pits, building motors, tuning suspensions, banging sheetmetal, and generally just keeping on top of details. I can honestly say the drivers of the teams I was on did better because of the team effort behind them and the car we produced. I have also built several cars from the ground-up, that did very well, both with me driving and with others driving.

Some of us fantasize about being on a Formula One crew, as an engineer, others want to drive, still others would kill just to be a tire-man. That's what's so cool about this auto thing, it hits us all on several levels.

So, be excellent at what you are. If that means you love the art of the machine and want nothing more than to talk mechanicals, that's cool. If you dig the team effort thing, that's great. If you want to do it all solo, sans assitance, that's cool too.

Just don't think that your path is the one and only path, as it is surely not.

That definitely includes any assertion that I am sugesting my path is in any way superior to anyone else, as it is my own, and nothing more. I offer all in the vein of good natured fun, on a forum that is associated with a car I enjoy, and people I enjoy reading from.

As for the length? Well, I'm just long winded when I'm enthused... for that I beg your indulgence.
