Well, my new Fikse FM-5 wheels just arrived a few minutes ago. I can't really justify them this year, but the sale price was so low. . .

First, I weighed them. The stock wheels are supposed to weigh 21 pounds front and 24 rear. All four of the new wheels weigh 18 pounds each. Fascinating! The fronts weigh as much as the rears. Did this on a bath scale, so it is plus or minus a pound or so. 3 pounds lighter in front and six in the rear is money in the bank, though.

Second, I got crazy and put a yard stick to them. Amazing. The diameter of the wheels is 18.5 inches. The width of the rears is 10 inches, and the fronts are 8.5 inches wide. All measurements same as stock. !!! There are some strange measuring conventions at work here. . .

Look forward to driving on them at the Southeast Divisionals next weekend. Man, at least I'll FEEL faster.
