I'm driving on a spare untill next week when I order a new set of tires (I replaced a tire showing cord with the spare - and geez that spare looks absured). I'm going for the:
Yokohama AVS Sports
235 40 R17 Front
255 35 R17 Rear
(I have Yokohoma AVS Intermediates right now - same sizes), unless someone can convince me otherwise before monday.
For West. Coast & SoCal people:
I just went to a conferance in San Diego and fell in love with the city. Between the beutifull bay and the great weather, and interesting people too I was really taken and am planning on moveing out there in a year. My plans are to by a 35-50 boat to live on out there in the marina (I'll of course have to rent storage to park my Z3).
Anyway, I was only there for a few days so I'm not 100% sure, but i am CERTAINLY A FULL 90% sure I want to do this - what do you see as the pros and cons of living and being a bimmerfile out there. I may actually be in Irvin since my company is head quarters there and I could transer (and keep my stock options ;)
A big con for me is that I'll miss the apalachian mountain roads, including the parkway. Mile after mile after mile of unending mountain road with transcednatal vistas of lush mountains and waterfalls.
What kind of cool roads can I get out there? (tell me about the "pacific coast highway"??? Can I dinanize my car with the actual dinan people? (that would cool)I am accustomed to southern hospitality and friendliness - what are the people like (flaky or insane is ok, unfriendly and stuck upis a definate con) - of course their is deveristy but give me a a sense of the flavor of people or the sene all together.
BTW, I am in the Triagnle area NC now.
And another thing - thinking of refinishing my wheels (I spun out a half a year ago (ice/slush/sand on the road - took a familiar curve too fast for conditionsand slammed sideways into a median - HARD - my wheels were the only thing that impacted. BMW makes sturdy wheels, they werent't bent any - merely scuffed. I also managed to make a passanger who used to really enjoy my driving to be a bit more nervous with me in the drivers seat - unfortunate, but I think he understands why it happened.
As for me no more takeing this car out in marginal road conditions. It was my fault for takeing the curve to fast for conditions, but it was my fist time every driving in those kind of conditions (with pure performance tires mind you).
Anyway when i refinish I am thinking abou chromeing them. I know it's too over the top for some, and I respect that, but the chrome accents I have put on my car really please **ME** and is that what it's all about?
My question is - who can do it, how much would it cost, and how much weight would it add. Also I don't want it if it will decrease performance in any meaningfull way.
Sorry for rambling, but I'm just in a good mood and feelin the Z3 love . . . ;)
