Looking for help with seat replacement (archive)

I am about to replace the seats in my 99 MZ3 with aftermarket seats. It is my understanding that the stock seats contain a sensor for the airbag system, and running the car with that sensor disconnected (i.e., with aftermarket seats installed) will set an airbag fault code.

Does anyone have experience/information on how to get around this problem?
