ASC failure mode a mixed blessing (archive)

For whatever reason, my ASC has gone into failure mode, and is now off all the time. Now, I generally drive with it off, so having it in "failure" mode doesn't bother me... but...

....the problem with systems is, failure of one component can mean other components in the related system (the entire engine management and ABS System computer?) are also suspect. Do I just accept the blessing of the ASC being out of the loop, hoping that it is an isolated problem? Or, do I go have it fixed and go back to switching it off all the time? Checked all the fuses, and they are fine, so it isn't a simple problem.

Looks like a trip to the dealer to get it fixed. They need to run diagnostics to make sure nothing else is going south.
