Thanks for your replies guys. As a follow up question, how important is following the break in procedure for the M coupes? I am religious about it, as are most enthusiasts, but I am wary about buying a used coupe off a dealer lot, even if it has low miles, simply for the fact that a lot of damage could be done to the motor, or if babied the rings will not seat properly and the cylinders will not wear throughout the full stroke which could later lead to lesser performance, and/or lower engine damage thresholds.
Also, has anybody dealt with either Sonnen or SF BMW?
Thanks again!
MiataMike, soon to be McoupeMike
Here are some differences between the two models years off the top of my head 1. 00 has chrome rings around headlights, 99 does not 2. 00 has chrome kidney grill slits, 99 does not 3. 00 has electrochromic mirror, 99 does not 4. 00 only has "M" labeled door sill panel while 99 has "M COUPE" labeled door sill panel 5. 00 has missing chrome package (No chrome interior door handle, chrome lock pulls, chrome parking brake button), 99 has chrome interior door handles, chrome lock pulls (and chrome parking brake button?) NOTE
The chrome package is suppose to be standard equipment for both the 99 and 00 model Coupes (It's listed on the sticker). Some have been able to successfully argue it from the dealer that they purchased the vehicle from. Some have made it a stipulation in purchasing their vehicle.
