I just saw a 01' Z3 coupe up close which looks very similar to my 99'Z3 Coupe with 3 obvious visual differences:
1.The handle on the hatch is much wider and of bright chrome which looks gaudy compared to the tailored black plastic handle on my '99.

2.This car as mine has the aluminum console trim which now includes aluminum strips on the upper section of eac door.Again they look flashy and non-BMW

3.The console now has an upper box stuck on which has space for a small and large cup.

I realize the big difference is the 3.0 engine which I did not try.It seems that the few cosmetic touches are to americanize a xclassic german design which would not be my choice. I just remember the steering wheel also has an M emblem even though this is a Z3 and not an M car.
