Having lived in both Chicago and New York, I will agree that you have a point about the great selection of food. Toronados and earthquakes are a moot point, either can get you when you're not looking. I've been through both and if given a choice would not repeat either. Cold and snow I'll just pass on completely. Besides here in the foothills of far northern California there are so many Z3 roads and so little trafficthat it's just more fun than being in the Chicago traffic.
I may live in SoCal, but I am from Illinois and ALWAYS WILL be a Chicagoan in heart and soul. You might not like the weather, but many of us live through it and survive. As a matter of fact, Christmas doesn't seem right unless it is white.

And boy are you missing the FOOD! You can have your sprouts and tofu, give me STEAK that's still kicking, and delicious, cause its corn fed, not grain fed here which gives a bitter taste. And you want REAL Italian food? Chicago or New York! Or Greek? Nothing like Greek Town in Chicago. And you want Polish or German? Once again, CHICAGO. Sushi, whats so special about that? In Chicago, when you take it home and cook it, it tastes like any other fish :)

As for tornados - you can always go into the basement or cellar to survive. But you NEVER want to go underground for an earthquake. Heck, there isn't anywhere safe during a quake.

Oh, and should I mention, . . . Chicago has NEVER lost a sports team, even no matter how bad they do, we still LOVE THEM!
