sorry you had a bad experience. that happens. it shouldn't, but it does. i thought i found a great dealership in clayton, just down the street from me. turns out they were only good at the moneymaking part, selling the car. warranty work? ha ha ha.
i'm not educated enough to put together my own suspension setup. i wouldn't do it myself, either, because i don't have the tools. if you feel as though you gain a performance advantage having more options in tuning your suspension, all the power to you.
when people are that polarized about something, it means emotional reasoning involved with the logic and i don't buy all that, either.
personally? i've never had a problem with my local dinan dealer, my dinan parts, and the extra money spent? well, i don't mind keeping the business afloat. i really don't. bmw's aren't cheap. you could argue the labor point to death. that's to protect the installing dealers. but the parts' price? that's paying for their R&D. for a tuner who only makes parts for a car company that only sells 900,000 cars worldwide?
