I think you guys hit the nail on the head.

It does not look like my tire is damaged. In fact you can cut the extra rubber away without any sign of damage underneath.

I would have never thought of the answer. It does makes since that I've picked up rubber from some other guys tires.

Thanks for the help. This messsage board never fails to amaze me. The collective wisdom here is awesome!
