Because I run on real street tires, I run in SK1 in Cal Club SCCA Solo II. This is a street tire only class (treadwear 140 or over), and in it are SS, AS, and FS classed cars. And though we run on an index system, I have beaten or nearly beaten all the Vettes I have been up against with my Z3 2.8 Coupe. And the drivers are NOT novices - Jerry Green and TC McNutt have been around Vettes and AutoX for a looooong time, and are part of the Guldstrandt Team (yes, THE VETTE man). Both have C4's, though Jerry now has a cherry ZR1, TC has the LS1 (I think that is what it is). Both have different power/torque curves that each have their own best days depending on the course layout. All 3 of us run the BFG KD's too, and theirs are more prepared than mine to stock regs (hey, that is why I am in the NO $$$ Team). In the last event, where I messed up badly, Jerry was the top Vette with a 58.188 and I got a 58.8XX - and as an M Coupe has way more HP than my car, it SHOULD have a better chance with a GOOD driver in it. So I don't think the C4 Vettes are THAT good.
