Are those Xenon bulbs any good? (archive)

I saw some pictures of "before & after" those bulbs, and I have a feeling that they would really look like a wannabe Xenon..But are they really better than stock bulbs? Do they have any adverse effect on the headlight cover because of heat for example? Any info is appreciated.
