Glad to hear you had your fun! I didn't go cause I went to the SD BMWCCA AutoX - but guess what? The car in the tech line just in front of me got in, but from me back, we were TURNED AWAY! Even though I was ON TIME (for once - thanks to Mike S)! And get this, . . . . there were a number of Honda's, Vette's, Miata's, and a Porsche or two that they let in, but a GENUINE BMWCCA member with a GENUINE BMW they turned away! There is already a letter sent to our local Pres, but maybe soon to BMWCCA main as well as perhaps the Roundel.
But all was not totally lost! SD SCCA was holding an event in the next lot, so I went there. I was worried that I'd be driving with the RED MIST from what just happened, and I was even hating the course as I walked it. But I stayed anyway and ran. Well, . . . . I got 4th Place out of about 12 cars in AS . . . . and the 3 that beat me were on R tires. The winner had a 58.5 and the best I had was a 60.1 (almost got down to a high 59). Now, if the logic behind the R tires is correct - that you could shave 2-4 seconds off your street tire time, then I would have beaten the winning M3, 2nd PL MR2 Turbo, and Jason in his S2000 (that placed higher than Mark Sipe in the SCCA Solo II Nationals)! So the day didn't turn out as a total loss, and even gave me quite an uplift. Actually, as SCCA is more about competition, I guess I did better there than beating up on the newer BMW folks :)
