Actually, sunlight is 5250K degrees in color temperature, whereas Xenon headlights are only 4300K degrees, meaning that sunlight is actually MORE on the blue side of the spectrum than Xenon headlights. A halogen bulb is 3200K, which is practically orange, giving a distoted view of colors surrounding you. Also, I don't need a lesson in physics, I know very well that blue light is scttered by a factor of (700/400)^4 more than red, and even less than that for green. However, the amount of scattering which occurs in our eye has nearly no effect on the colors that we see, making your "more distracting" statment illogical. The only reason that they are distracting is because they look so cool. On my way home from work, keeping this post in mind, I compared the Xenons on a 330Ci with a nearly identical 323's halogens and noticed that there was signficantly MORE overall glare from the 323's lights. Explain that.

Below is a list of the benefits of Xenon headlights. IMHO, they far outwight the drawbacks (of which I can't come up with any.) Enjoy.

•More light output - A 35-Watt XENON HID lamp produces up to 3x the lumens at the light source when compared to a 55-Watt halogen bulb.

•Whiter light - While the halogen light appears yellowish, the XENON HID lighting system produces a light that is closer to that of natural sunlight.

•Increased Visibility - In most nighttime driving/bad weather situations, this combination of a whiter color and a greater light output allows for a safer and more illuminated drive.

•Reduced power consumption - XENON HID lamp systems draw significantly less power from your vehicles electrical system.

•Greater product life - XENON HID lamp systems are designed to outlast your vehicle. On average these bulbs will last 3-5 times longer than a traditional halogen bulb.

•Distinctiveness - Your vehicle will not only have the latest in automotive lighting technologies, but will also have that unique eye-catching appeal. Currently, only high-end vehicles offer this XENON HID lighting system.
