In spite of facts bearing out the reduced accident rate in places where daytime running lights are required by law, some folks insist on driving without them. Same issue applies to injuries and seat belts....

On the Z3, I believe the software cannot be changed. I wanted to have daytime running lights enabled on our '99 Z3 coupe, but the dealer's shop folks say not on the Z3. Some other BMW models can have this done.
