Took 1st place at Buttonwillow on Saturday (best CLEAN time was 68.4, best time was 66.7 but nailed one - those rear fender flares, ha ha) by quite a margin, but fell flat today in the rain and only took 2nd place.

Funny thing, Gerry Green who both of us are really in a tight battle for 1st in year end points, brought a Camaro instead of his ZR1 Vette on Saturday! I asked Gerry what the hell was going on. He said that it was going to rain, and his ZR1 is NEVER driven in the rain. But AFTER the race, . . . he was packing up his car. I asked him what is he doing now? He said he was in a hurry - he was going all the way back home to get his Vette! I said but what if it rains? He said, ha ha, I DON'T GIVE A DAMN! So he brought his Vette today. Everyone gave him shit about it, as a lot heard what he said Saturday. He even said he'd never smoke in it either, yet we all saw him doing that too!!! This was all done GOOD NATUREDLY! We are all friends.

Anyway, though I would have thought the torque of the big V8 in his ZR1 would give him problems and me the advantage, I was WRONG! He beat me in the rain. I even tried using the DSC on the wet track - boy was that WEIRD driving that way! When you are expecting the car to slide one way, suddenly the DSC kicks in and slides you the other way! And boy, there isn't anything like loosing it on a wet track at over 70mph! Luckily, I did not go off the track, but it was an E TICKET RIDE!
