HELP with Battery Tender! Fred? (archive)

Hi,

After a ton of research, I got a Battery Minder (www.vdcelectronics.com), which is supposedly the *best* battery maintainer on the market as it desulfates as well as maintains(which the Battery Tender does not). I love it so far!

It states that it will not overcharge or boil out the battery, however, here is my question: if I leave this plugged in, will there be any gases created or vented into the trunk from the battery? Should I leave the trunk lid open? Should I take the battery cover off? I have some expensive audio equipment in the trunk, and would not want any type of acidic gas to come in contact.

Fred, or other people who use battery tenders: what is your SOP for this? I currently have a sealed, Sears Diehard battery. Will the battery just vent through the tube connected to the outside of the car?

Thanks for any help!

Larry
