my second point is: what makes a supercar special? since none of us knows a priori what a complete sampling of what they are like to drive, what then do we have to use to judge them?
my answer: numbers. cost? engine power? weight? braking distance? skidpad? car comparison test.
0-60 comes to mind because my simple mind cannot recall automatically the quarter mile times, the 0-100 times, or the 0-100-0 times. if i spent some tiem looking them up, those figures would clearly demonstrate why such cars are appellated "super".
dp- you're right in the final analysis, they're faster than anyone needs. the m coupe is, and it's no supercar. it's a moot point.
what we're discussing here is a. the new porsche GT and b. whether or not BMW gets it in terms of making a sports car versus powered up luxo car. both ridiculous points, but those were the two talking points.
