I have driven the Z3 2.8, the US spec M coupe, US spec M3, and planty on the Euro spec M Coupe (99 model w. 321 hp). NO comparasion. Definitely get the M version. The Euro engine seems like it will never stop revving and I enjoy it more than the US spec engine. Definitely can handle the extra hp, just makes it that more nervous. Have to be gentle with the throttle, or it will bite you back. Similar to driving a late 80s Porsche 933 Turbo. Respect it and it will reward you, otherwise, you will learn what opposite lock means.
