with ~8K miles and most of the dealers, both BMW and independents, started asking around $36K and would actually come down to the $33k -$34K range after working on them just a little.

My dealer here had a '00 model Blue w/Beige w/roof, indash cd, and keyless entry and his sale price was $36.5.

This sounds like a good price depending on options and the shape it's in. With 3000 miles and being a '00 model, you can hardly go wrong. The BMW dealer will fix about anything that is and can go wrong with it under the 3 yr/36K "bumper to bumper" coverage.
