I have similar experiences with most retail outlets around here. They make out you're the stupid one.
Bring it up to BMW Darien CT - they're achingly polite.
I backed mine into a snowpile yesterday, bunged up 2 of the 4 exhausts with snow and was expecting it to stall. I thought that 2 exhausts would do 3 cylinders and the other 2 the other 3 but they must be cross linked so that all the exhaust went out of the 2 clear pipes. Broomhandle solved blockage anyway.

struggling thru snow and ice on Michelin Sports :)
My 2000 MCoupe broke down this morning, hit snowpile and car just died. So i called Roadside Assistance ( 2 hours later) I dropped my car off at Bayside BMW in NY. The service lot was closed but the gate was open. So i proceeded to have the flatbed drop the car off there, when all of a sudden, this woman ( manager) comes out screaming get the car out of here, right now, arms crossed putting up an attitude. I asked her if i could please leave it there and she went nuts. So i had to trek my car to another dealership in Long Island, nearly an hour away. So unprofessional
